Waterfall Infrared

 <img src="http://www.mikezauner.com/thumbnails/thumb_20100518220355_waterfall infrared.jpg"><br/>
While exploring with the wife in little cottonwood canyon, we stumbled across a waterfall. I've been experimenting with infrared again, and it was sunny out, so I figured why not.

As you enter Adrian heading on westbound I40, you pass by a building with a truck out front with this in the bed. I rather liked the whole scene, but unfortunately due to the time of day we were in Adrian, the sun had everything backlit and didn't do the scene justice. This shot worked nicely, however.

Another gas pump along Route 66 in Adrian, TX. This still has the Lead sticker on it warning of lead in the gas. This pump was set to 22 cents per gallon when we got to it.

An ancient coke dispenser sitting decaying outside the "bent door" in midway. Nicely enough, most of the rust on it is surface rust, and could be buffed out with ease, then a new coat of paint, and a refrigerant recharge, and everything should be back up and running. It was interesting to see that Coca-Cola back then was 10 cents a bottle. My how times have changed.

Pictured is a 50's Impala sitting on cinder blocks outside Midpoint Cafe. Honestly, this is a disgrace to such an amazing car, however, most of the area seemed to be getting an overhaul of some kind, so it's possible the car is in a current state of refit, and will be restored to its former beauty soonish. Since we weren't exactly there during tourist season, this is a likely circumstance.

This is a bike that's been locked to the pole holding up the overhang on the building adjacent to the Midpoint Cafe under which the truck sits. This bike, the truck, and the Impala pictured later are all likely from the route 66 era.

This is from the Midpoint cafe parking lot, pointed at the cafe itself. Used is a Gradient Mauve filter to give the sky that color. Thanks to my dad buying us a Cokin filter set, we can use the same filters interchangeably on any lens provided we have the adaptor ring for it.

In Adrian, TX outside the midway cafe, which sits at the midway point on historic Route 66 between Los Angeles and Chicago, 1129 miles in each direction. The midway cafe was unfortunately closed when we were there, however, based on the writings on the truck, after eating at the cafe, you're encouraged to write something on it. Quite a few have, and in at least 5 different languages that I saw offhand.

Cadillac Ranch 4

 <img src="http://www.mikezauner.com/thumbnails/thumb_20100119184429_cadillac ranch4.jpg"><br/>
This is the whole ranch. The shot was made with my Nikkor-H 28mm lens from 1959. Most of the shots from the Route 66 shoot were made with this lens, as it adds effects to the images that make the photos look like they were taken with an older camera. Remember, it's not the sensor, it's not the body, and with film cameras, the only things that make the biggest difference are the photographer, the film, and the lens. Since I can't change the first 2, I'll deal with the third variable.
